At Memorial Hermann in January, 42 MRSA staph infections were detected. Of those 42, 38 were acquired outside of the hospital, Marciniak said. It says to use Dr. in first reference as a formal title before the name of someone who holds a doctor of dental surgery, doctor of medicine, doctor of osteopathy or doctor of podiatric medicine degree.
